Romance of Typesetting
Demonstration and hands-on experiences of movable type
The Art Museum has once again invited print-making artist Cheung Tsz-ki to demonstrate typesetting techniques of movable type in Summer Fest. Drawing inspiration from the exhibition "Transcending Transience" and the poignant story of the "Romance of the Western Chamber", Tsz-ki will guide participants to appreciate the beauty of printmaking and experience the craft firsthand. Join us to create your own one-of-a-kind print-making souvenir!

Cheung Tsz-ki (b. 1996) Cheung graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2018, and MA Multi-disciplinary Printmaking, UWE Bristol in 2023. Through art making he practices seeing; passively observing the negated subject - glances once settled on clouds far away, tides long gone. These remnants are printed as a language on paper, fragments of descriptions which represent the embodiment of the fixed gaze. His prints can be considered as a momentary pause, a resting place for exhausted eyes. He has participated in exhibitions including: Royal West of England Academy Annual Exhibtion (Bristol, 2023), 20/20 Hong Kong Print Art exhibition (Hong Kong Heritage Museum, 2021), The Sea Keeps Burning (PMQ, 2020) and Hong Kong Fine Print (HART Hall, 2019)
